As my boyfriend is the person who works and brings all the money back to home I decided make a few bucks too, while staying at home.
So in October 2008 I started looking for some opportunities on how to make some money from home. After a few badly written Guides on blogging i found this book. At first I was skeptical and hesitated buying it, as it was promising $1000.00 within the first 7 days, which sounded very unrealistic.
So i checked out the Terms of Service of ClickBank (the Third Party which acts as selling platform between vendors (sellers) and customers (buyers) and offers secure billing for the vendors). After studying the Refund Policy FAQ and seen that there is a 60 day refund time, I thought to give it a try. If it sucks, I could simply request a refund and get my money back.
The beginning and the first week
After buying this book I immediately started reading it and after i was half way through, I started my first Blog. I’ve decided to take one popular topic for the beginning and do my first steps there.
I decided to make a Blog about World of Warcraft and MMORPGs in general (that being said: I’m passionate MMORPG player for years). The main focus should be on Tips & Tricks, Guides, Strategies and all the little things which makes the Life easier for an MMORPG player. My first blog was called MMO-Worlds.
Following this Blogging Guide, I made up the blog, populated it with content and followed the tips which made my blog easier to find in search engines. I also placed Google AdSense banners on the blog for the income.
In the beginning there wasn’t much content and after 7 days, there were only a handful of visitors and the basically no income. I was quite a bit disappointed, but I also already expected it that there is no easy way for instant success.
But I decided not to give up, after all there were still 7 weeks left until i could request a refund and get my money back.
The next few weeks
I continued to follow up the guide in this book and applying the tips to my first blog and adding more quality content. After three weeks, I’ve noticed an significant increase of traffic. I had approximately 150-200 unique visitors and my first income through Google AdSense. It wasn’t much, like $1 per day. But it was a beginning!
By that time, it was already January 2009. At that time, there was an event in World of Warcraft called “Lunar Festival”, which was the celebration of the Chinese New Year Festival. There were some very extensive and time consuming. So I followed the advice of the book to make some extraordinary article which was connected to a current news or happening and wrote an extensive guide.
It was very detailed and contained a step-by-step “To Honor One’s Elders” Guide where to find the NPCs necessary to complete this event. After that I followed the tips, to promote my guide.
And it was a great success! On the first 7 days I had up to 5.000-15.000 unique visitors per day and i see the money flowing! Within only 5 days I had my first 100$ in Google AdSense!
The time after this first success
This lasted approximately 14 days, then the numbers normalized again. However, due to this initial success I was highly motivated to find new and interesting topics to report and get customers again. And due to the huge success, I also got one of the most important thing in blogging: Popularity and recurring visitors. From that time on, my blog always had 1.000-2.000 unique visitors daily, which is great for a few month old blog!
The profits from Google AdSense also dropped down a bit to $2-4 daily.
Today
Now a few months later, I still have regularly 2.000 unique visitors per day and depending on the situations and current event in the MMORPGs i report on, the visits can peek up to 20.000 day. Just 2 weeks ago, when Ulduar was released I also released some Boss Strategy Guides on how to beat the newest and hardest bosses in Ulduar (new World of Warcraft raid instance). In the past 2 weeks (14th April – 28th April) i had approximate 100.000 unique visitors! That’s an approximate of 7150 unique visitors daily
Summary
While I haven’t seen the big $1000 in 7 days success, i definitely had success using this book and in only 6 weeks I had earned double that money I had spent on this book. Now I usually have $100-$200 per months from my MMO-Worlds blog, which is a nice side income and I have no costs (other than the one-time fee of $30.95 for this book).
